I know by now you are familiar with experiencing these Adelaide Homefresh Experience cooking classes with The Real South Australia “feel,” “foods,” “wines” and “tastes.”

Homefresh Experience offers cooking classes for children of all ages.

Homefresh Brand Manager Stephen Curtis believes:

“With so many questionable food options available today, learning about nutrition and healthy food preparation has never been more important for kids.

At Homefresh, we believe children need to learn to decipher between healthy and poor food options from a young age.”

My friend Suzie experienced her first Homefresh Experience cooking class as part of Tasting Australia; Farm Fresh Chateau Briand Royal with Berry Charlotte.

I thought it would be interesting for my readers to hear about the class through Suzie’s unique eyes and experience!
Suzie-smilesWhat was the highlight or highlights of your Homefresh Experience Chateau Briand Royal and Berry Charlotte Cooking Class?
While all of the prep work and cooking experience was enjoyable, actually eating the yummy food at the end of the session just brought it all together–it was my personal highlight!

Would you recommend the Homefresh Experience Cooking Class and Why?
Chef Jean-Claude is way more entertaining than a whole season of Masterchef; it’s a good night out; and it’s an opportunity to meet really interesting folk. And, unlike some cooking class oriented events I’ve been too, it’s just the right level of interaction.

Were there any Chef Jean-Claude hints, tips and or secrets on the night that you learned?
Chef Jean-Claude  shared a whole host of tips and tricks, but there were two that stuck with me. Asparagus breaks off at a natural point and how to find it; and that striating the beef before you roll it helps keep it tender.

For my readers who may not be familiar with the term striating, it is simple stripes or lines cut into the meat.

Would you consider any of the future Homefresh Experience Classes? i.e. The flavours cover 5 different cuisines; Flavours of Europe, Flavours of the Middle East, Flavours of Asia, Flavours from the Garden, Flavours of France?
Yes, all of them. I’m keen for the flavours of the Middle East though. In any case, any of these classes are kind of like a mini-vacation without having to pay airfare!

Do you have any suggestions on what might improve the class?
Maybe more time for an introduction to all the participants.  But otherwise, it was awesome.

Do you think the Maxwell Wines on offer and Honey Mead complimented the dishes on the night? Will you consider purchasing the wines and or mead in the future?
Yes, I was pleasantly surprised because the Verdelho white wine from Maxwell Wines was not too acidic. I don’t get along well with acidic wines, but the Verdelho was lovely. The Honey Mead was beautiful and a perfect accent to the menu–it was also a first for me, I had never had Honey Mead before.

Did you enjoy that the Homefresh Experience Cooking Class was “very interactive” and required everyone’s participation?
Yes, but what was nice was the no one felt “under pressure” and Chef Jean-Claude made everyone feel comfortable.

What three words would you use to sum up the Homefresh Experience Chateau Briand Royal and Berry Charlotte Cooking Class?
Delicious. Interesting. Fun.

Did the Homefresh Experience Chateau Briand Royal and Berry Charlotte Cooking Class increase your cooking confidence and or your knife skills?
Yes, especially about confidence working with meat. I often leave it to my husband to do the red meat; but after he got a taste of the leftovers I brought home, I think those days may be over.

I noticed you purchased Chef Jean-Claude’s Legendary Cuisine cookbook on the night. Which recipes are you most looking forward to make?
I want to try and replicate the Berry Charlotte. But then again, I haven’t finished reading the cookbook yet, so check back later on this.
